The HC Executive Offices announced today that the 2009 Miami Open presented by The Clevelander will be the final tour stop
of the Hogan Circuit, bringing four years of riveting competition to a close.
"We're excited to announce that the Circuit
is headed back to Miami this winter," said Kip Henry at a sparsely attended press conference. "As for next summer, things
look bleak. Taste of LaMonica has gone under, Gunnarade was a flop, Luiz and Darryl have migrated north of Belmont... it's
time to move on!"
Even Hogan himself did not appear at North
Avenue in 2008, a sign that the sport itself is probably in jeopardy. Still, one battle at a time.
On the positive side, the HC Miami Open is
slated to be the best ever. Kip Henry is working overtime to make the February 5-8 event the most anticipated of them all.
"There was some discussion last year about
a variety of options," he said. "We know the Clevelander is back on board, but they may not host the players after all." Henry
hinted at a beach front condominium to house the competitors. "That's on the radar, yes."
Ultimately, the plan is to go out with a bang.
To do so, look for a bevy of familiar faces. "Don't be surprised to see LaMonica back on board, the Namesake in tow, plus
Luiz and his flag. Dr. Greg Miller is surely choosing his delayed flight as we speak. And leave it to Kip to find a new face
or two.
Final plans will be announced early in October.
